Local New Hope, PA Teacher Finds Strength
In Launching Loungewear Fashion Line
PREVIEW LAUNCH PARTY SET FOR FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18th at
HOTEL DU VILLAGE
NEW HOPE, PA (9/15/2016) – Former Council Rock school teacher, Lauren Raja worked for first time with the most difficult student in her career, herself. Soon after her resignation from a profession she loved being teaching, Lauren was forced to teach herself not only to move forward and be strong but also find a way to hope and dream again. In October 2014 Raja lost the love of her life, her husband Justin, during their family vacation in Santorini, Greece, prompting her difficult decision to resign.
“Justin always believed in me and regularly encouraged my dreams and ironically, losing him was my darkest nightmare”. This tragedy led to nearly a year of on-and-off moments of just sitting in darkness, starring at the wall in desperation”, Lauren Raja states. Slowly, Lauren began to reflect upon some of the most meaningful messages she learned in life from the pillar of her world, Grandma (“Mama”) Jean, pulling her in the direction to teach herself how to be strong, move forward and to find a way to dream again.
Through what could have been millions of sketches in her New Hope apartment, Lauren started bringing her passion back to life by exploring her aspirations of fashion design, leading her to the creation of Justin Jean Pajamas, a fitting line, representing her moments of needing comfort and wearing various loungewear while recovering from the absence of Justin. “Deciding to create and launch a pajama line for women and girls only seemed fitting as this is what I spent most of my days wearing post tragedy while receiving tremendous care and support from so many friends”.
Currently Justin Jean Pajamas is taking preorders for mid-October deliveries on the JustinJeanPJs.com web site and can also be found on display at Savioni Boutique, located at 10 South Main Street, New Hope, PA

LOCAL CAPPELLA GROUPS INVITED TO COMPETE FOR BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE PERFORMANCE
TWO EXCTING EVENTS LAUNCHED
IN ANTICIPATION OF VOCALOSITY
NEW HOPE, PA (6/9/2016) – “Vocalosity,” the sensational a cappella concert experience that is re-launching its North American tour at Bucks County Playhouse September 23 – October 2, is providing opportunities for local community and student a cappella groups with a chance to compete to perform as an opening act for the show! Two opportunities — The “Aca-Performance of a Lifetime” video contest and the “Aca-Masterclass Weekend” for students — will shine the footlights on local talent, and give participants the opportunity to work under the direction of “Pitch Perfect” producer Deke Sharon, himself.
“Vocalosity’s” “Aca-Performance of a Lifetime” contest is an opportunity for local a cappella groups to compete for an opportunity to perform as the “opening act” for one performance of “Vocalosity” at Bucks County Playhouse during the opening weekend.
To enter, contestants must submit a 1-2 minute video recording of their a cappella group performing any contemporary song and upload to YouTube. Groups may make the link public or unlisted, and email the YouTube link to: Info@VocalosityOnTour.com. The YouTube links will also be shared on the official “Vocalosity” YouTube channel as a playlist organized by city, as well as on the Bucks County Playhouse website. Three (3) finalist videos will be selected and sent to the creative team of “Vocalosity” who will determine the winner.
The second opportunity is the “Aca-Masterclass Weekend.” Designed for local scholastic a cappella groups, “Pitch Perfect” producer Deke Sharon will hold a master class at the Playhouse and give local groups and opportunity to explore performance techniques, discuss what it takes to make it in the performance industry, and receive coaching. The event will take place on October 2, 2016 before the matinee performance of “Vocalosity.” School groups attending this event are also competing for the opportunity to perform as the “opening act” for one performance of the show on September 30, October 1, or October 2.
The winning group of the video competition as well as the selected schools from the “Aca-Masterclass Weekend” will be chosen to perform a maximum of 5 minutes at the top of a specific performance of “Vocalosity.” In addition, the winning group of the video competition will receive one comp ticket per performer to stay and attend the evening’s performance. The song selection(s) for all groups will be approved by “Vocalosity” in advance to avoid any duplication with the “Vocalosity” program.
The video contest will launch on June 3. All video submissions and Aca-Masterclass Weekend applications are due by 5 pm on Friday, September 9. The winner of the competition and the schools selected to perform will both be announced the week of September 12 to give the selected groups time to prepare for their performance and coordinate tickets for their friends and family.
“Vocalosity” is a fast-paced production featuring an all-star ensemble of diverse young vocalists singing some of today’s chart-topping hits in brand-new arrangements that set a new standard for 12-part harmony.
It’s the aca-perfect concert experience!
“Vocalosity” runs September 23 – October 2 at Bucks County Playhouse. Tickets are $35 - $55 plus fees. To purchase tickets or for more information on Bucks County Playhouse visit buckscountyplayhouse.org or call the box office at (215)862-2121. ABOUT BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE
Bucks County Playhouse, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, is the oldest and largest professional Equity performing arts center in Bucks County. Under the direction of Tony Award-winning producers, Alexander Fraser and Robyn Goodman, the Playhouse provides first class professional theatrical entertainment as well as community events, partnerships and arts education programming for visitors and residents of New Hope, Doylestown, Lambertville and the Delaware Valley.
Located between Philadelphia and New York, Bucks County Playhouse opened in 1939 in a converted 1790 gristmill after a group of community activists, led by Broadway orchestrator Don Walker and playwright Moss Hart, rallied to save the building. The Playhouse quickly became one of the country’s most famous regional theaters, featuring a roster of American theatrical royalty including Helen Hayes, Kitty Carlisle, George S. Kaufman, Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Bert Lahr, Walter Matthau, Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Alan Alda, Tyne Daly, Liza Minnelli and Audra McDonald and remained in continuous operation until December 2010. In 2012, the Playhouse re-opened thanks to the efforts of the Bridge Street Foundation, the nonprofit family foundation of Kevin and Sherri Daugherty, and Broadway producer Jed Bernstein.
Since its renovation, significant productions include Terrence McNally’s “Mothers and Sons” starring Tyne Daly, which moved to Broadway and was nominated for two Tony Awards, and “Misery” by William Goldman based on the Stephen King novel which also went on to a Broadway run in the 2015-16 season. Two of the Playhouse’s recent productions -- “Company” starring Justin Guarini, and William Finn’s “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” -- were named by Wall Street Journal to its “Best of Theatre” list for 2015.

FULL CAST ANNOUNCED FOR NEW PRODUCTION OF
THE MOST SUCCESSFUL ROCK MUSICAL OF ALL TIME
“BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY” AT BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE
PREVIEWS BEGIN JUNE 24 WITH OPENING SET
FOR JUNE 25
NEW HOPE, PA (6/7/2016) – Bucks County Playhouse is proud to present its second production of the summer season, the high-energy Rock & Roll musical “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” directed by Tony nominee Hunter Foster with choreography by Lorin Latarro. This show has been seen by over 22 million people world-wide, and is hailed as the most successful rock musical of all time.
“Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” will begin previews at Bucks County Playhouse (70 S. Main Street, New Hope, PA) on June 24 with an opening night scheduled for June 25 and will run through July 16. The Playhouse’s 2015 productions, including “Company,” also from the hands of Foster and Latarro, were hailed by the Wall Street Journal as among, “The best theatre of 2015.”
Bucks County Playhouse Producer Stephen Kocis is excited to welcome audiences to the biggest show of the 2016 season, following the enormous success of “Steel Magnolias” earlier this summer. “This show is a tremendous showcase for these extremely talented young performers who are not only actors, but also musicians who play their own instruments onstage,” says Kocis. “Furthermore, many of them are making their debut on the historic stage of BCP, following in the tradition of such theater royalty as Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, and many others.”
From his meteoric rise to fame in 1957 through his tragic death less than two years later, Buddy Holly influenced modern music like no other performer of his generation. “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” features more than 20 of Holly’s greatest hits, including “That’ll Be The Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” and many more. The show features a book by Alan Janes and music and lyrics by Buddy Holly. It opened in London’s West End, where it ran for over 10 years, and premiered on Broadway in 1990.
The cast includes John Dewey (“Hello, Dolly!”) as Buddy Holly, Karak Osborn (“She Stoops to Conquer,” Stratford Festival) as ‘The Big Bopper’ J.P. Richardson, Gilbert Sanchez (“Showgirls the Musical” Off-Broadway) as Ritchie Valens, Zach Cossman (“Band Geeks: The Musical,” Regional Premiere) as Jerry Allison, James David Larson (“Into the Woods,” Roundabout Theater Company) as Joe B. Mauldin, Natalie Haro (Nickelodeon’s “Fred: The Show”) as Maria Elena Santiago, Andrew Frace (“Jersey Boys” First National Tour) as Hipockets Duncan, Kent M. The production is helmed by director Hunter Foster (BCP’s “Company”), and choreographer Lorin Latarro (“Waitress”), both of whom are also Bucks County Playhouse Artistic Associates. Paul Masse serves as musical director, Adam Koch is scenic designer with lighting design by Gina Scherr, costume design by Nicole V. Moody, and sound design by Matthew Given.
Bucks County Playhouse will offer discounted preview performances of “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” on Friday, June 24 at 8 pm and Saturday, June 25 at 2pm. Tickets to preview performances are only $30. Opening night is Saturday, June 25 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $40-$74 plus fees.
