Tasty Talks of Jazz Brunches to Delectable Supper Club Dine-In Schedules - An Interview With Hopewell Theater & The Peasant Grill
By Mandee K. Hammerstein
The Hopewell Theater has a sumptuous new offering in the works for future fans of the upcoming, hip new entertainment venue – cozy comfort food that ranges from luxe Theater dine-in experiences to grab-and-go concessions, thanks to the collaboration with the ever-popular Peasant Grill. Aside from being steps away from the intimate new Theater, partnering on dining options with the husband and wife duo and owners, Barry and Michelle Klein was a natural says producing partner and executive director, Sara Scully – “Their ability to create a daily range of high quality comfort foods with home-cooked freshness, we know this would be an asset to the Theater’s menu. It’s this kind of cuisine we want to offer, and we knew Michelle and Barry could create a menu that was unique to our Theater with the same quality they are known for.”
Although the custom menu for the Theater hasn’t been formally announced yet, Scully is most excited about dishes they currently offer, such as what some refer to as their sacred soups, drawing winter lines out the door to tantalizing mac and cheese plates through to their handmade baked goods. With all this, Scully can’t wait to see what they curate specially for the Theater. The couple are also sourcing other local treats to offer on the menu from area favorites as well, like organic cheese plates from the Brick Market to The Bent Spoon ice cream.
Theater guests can look forward to dining at the Theater and sinking into an ultra-cozy, cabaret-styled banquette seat that’s perfectly lit, coupled with a clear view of the stage, all to share with a good friend or date, with a delicious meal. There will also be cool bar seating in the balcony where patrons can peer over the balcony edge with a birds-eye view of the show, enjoying a drink and a small plate.
When talking to the Klein’s – they both light up at the mention of working together for the Hopewell Theater, Michelle as soon as singing and comedic acts are mentioned as part of the regular line up. She instantly reminisces about the days when she performed as a stand-up comedian and how those experiences stay with her, especially at the Peasant Grill counter, where she serves customers daily with humor and a friendly face. Both Michelle and Barry can’t wait to have the best of both worlds in sharing their cuisine at the Theater: seeing unique live performances, and presenting a creative menu, all under one roof. When asking Barry about his contribution to the Theater’s experience for friends and audiences alike, he enthusiastically states, “Cooking is an art in itself and we’re excited to bring these two natural mediums together.”
The Hopewell Theater will be a BYOB venue where patrons can bring their favorite vino to accompany the Peasant Grill offerings while seeing a show. Upon the launch of the Hopewell Theater’s permanent web-site, guests will find a full schedule for the Supper Clubs that will coincide with the entertainment schedule.
